The Scorpion System of Self Defense is an art combining Kyokushin Karate, Vee jitsu Jujitsu, Kickboxing, and Judo.
The art was created in New York City in 1972 by Shihan Al Rivera and endorsed by Professor "Vee" the following year.
The Scorpion System addresses several problems with traditional martial arts by training against gangs, wearing heavy winter coats, in street clothes with stiff or high heeled shoes, carrying a heavy purse or school bag. We also train against guns, knives and clubs, and in confined spaces. We always put lower belt students with more advanced students and encourage correction of form at all times. This brings students along quickly to a higher level of training so they have some skills they can use on the street now.
